The SACS Commission on Colleges is the representative body of the organization's College Delegate Assembly.

Why is accreditation important?

The accreditation status of the college you consider is important for several reasons.

One of the most significant benefits for students is that it allows Tennessee's Community Colleges to maintain eligibility for student financial aid through the U.S. Department of Education.

Accreditation by the SACS Commission on Colleges also signifies the credibility of our community colleges because it demonstrates each college has presented how it complies with rigorous compliance criteria and has been recognized by peer institutions to have met those compliance criteria.
