Students at Tennessee’s Community Colleges enjoy the thrill of rooting for the home team in collegiate level sports, including some national champions. The majority of colleges participate in National Junior College Athletic Association in men’s baseball, women’s softball, and men’s and women’s basketball. Some also field teams in golf and women’s volleyball.

You’re likely to see highly exciting competition with amazing talent. For example, Walters State Community College is home to the 2006 National JCAA Men’s Baseball team and continues to be ranked in the top 5 teams in the nation each year.

Most also offer athletic scholarships, and many student athletes go on to play for four-year universities after gaining valuable playtime in their freshman and sophomore years at community college.

For those who may not be star athletes, but still enjoy playing on the court or field, most of the TCCs offer intramural sports opportunities, such as basketball or softball leagues, for students to participate in some friendly competition on campus.
